Available for Work
Please reach out to phoenix.baldwin@yahoo.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Although I'm rarely closed, there's a Live Queue on the home page of this site. This is the most up-to-date location for slot availability and shows how many projects are currently being worked on.
Turnaround times vary, but I have a strict 60 day deadline policy. If you do not receive your commission within 60 days you may ask for a full refund - the hard deadline is generally listed on the invoice terms. Icons and other small commissions may be given a tighter deadline at my discretion.
The deadline policy won't apply if the commission isn't paid off, if I've lost communication with you, or if an excessive amount of fixes are delaying the commission's completion time.
Yes! It's rare for me to go more than two weeks without updating. If you're getting worried, it's absolutely okay to check in! Even if a stage isn't finished yet, I'll show progress or give some info for why there's been a delay. For most commissions I provide updates at the sketch, lines, flat color, and shaded stages.
That said, please check the queue first - sometimes it's just because there are folks ahead of you. And please don't make a habit of daily check-ins. I'm usually working on a lot of different projects at once, and the interruptions can slow me down if they get to be too frequent.
This isn't a problem. I've worked off descriptions, mood boards, fursuit photos, pencil sketches, headshots, and even music! Most commissions can be handled this way. The only exception is animation commissions, which I do require reference sheets or at least a fullbody image for.
Sure! Badge shipping costs are 5$ anywhere in the US, and 15$ internationally. They come laminated with a badge clip.
That's not a problem! I can give you a quote for any ideas you have, and there is no obligation to follow through with the commission. Ask anytime!
You can repost any commissions I do for you, that's why I send lower resolution files alongside the chunky ones. You can credit me with my FurAffinity (Phoenix-of-Starlight), my Telegram (@/PhoenixofStarlight), or simply say "Art by Phoenix Baldwin" if you'd like. :) Credit isn't necessary but it's hugely appreciated!
Generally I'm open to this and don't mind if you print stickers, art prints, make buttons or what-have-you with the art I do for you. It's helpful to let me know to make sure I can get you files that will print nicely! Most folks who ask about this do so for free merch they pass out at conventions, but if you ask me I'll often be okay with you selling these items as well.
Currently there are two available discounts for things I especially enjoy drawing!
Adopt Discount - if you bought an adoptable character from me, commissions featuring that character are %10 off.
Paleo Discount (aka the dino games discount) - if you want me to draw a specific animal from Ark: Survival Evolved, The Isle, Beasts of Bermuda, or Path of Titans, those are %10 off. Be prepared to send in-game screenshots of the creatures in place of character references or descriptions.
You can ask for a full refund before the sketch stage is approved, if for example, the piece seems wildly off from what you had in mind. After that point though, please only ask for changes that you feel are needed. I work hard to make sure people are happy with the pieces I do for them, so unless I miss the deadline, in-progress commissions are non-refundable.
Maybe! You can propose an alternate price, and if the project sounds doable at your budget, I'll let you know. If I have a busy queue already however, don't be surprised if I turn you down.
In that case, here's my Rush Order Policy! These become priority until completion and can skip my queue.
Need it in 30 days - 20$ rush fee
Need it in 14 days - 50$ rush fee
Need it in 7 days - 150$ rush fee
Need it within 24 hours - 300$ rush fee (Must be able to respond to updates quickly, else waive fixes.)
You probably will not need this for an icon, or halfbody. You can let me know if a smaller commission is under a tight deadline, I'll usually be able to get it done. But this can be very helpful for big projects that need a fast turnaround.
I've developed a few specialties over the years! For subject matter, I'm especially strong at drawing birds, feral mammals, and humans. I also specialize in style development and character design - which means I'm pretty good at taking your characters and drawing them in the styles of various shows or movies. Finally, I'm a trained animator. Animation from me is time consuming, but I always ensure it's to the highest quality I can offer.
I'm not especially experienced at drawing complex mechs, three-point-perspective environments. or gore. These are all things I'm comfortable drawing, but I'm not a pro at them! Other artists can probably offer you better versions of these things. :)
I don't draw explicit sexual content, including overtly sexual expressions or phrases. I don't draw fetish/kink art, although some of the less extreme ones can be fine. I highly prefer not to depict drug use, and I will not include any form of hate speech in my work. Part of this is for my own comfort, but I'm also a children's book author-illustrator. (Some things just aren't meant to mix)
This is generally what you'll see attached to my invoices:
Digital artwork will come with a full resolution image as well as one under 10 MB for posting convenience. Cropped artwork can be provided at request for icons or for display on different websites. Artwork is signed except in cases where it would interfere with the image, and made to the specifications of the client. The artist claims no rights to depicted characters, but does request that credit is not taken for the artwork itself. That being said, the art can be reposted on any websites at the client's choosing once the work is finished.
Deadline: All commissions will be turned out within 60 days of the commission being accepted (generally sooner). After 60 days, if the commission has not been completed, a full refund may be issued at request of the client. Exceptions may be made if the client is taking an unreasonable amount of time to respond to updates, making ample changes that extend the work time significantly, or has not paid by the deadline time.
This commission is due by ----- ---, ----.
I keep my ToS simple and only update it as truly needed! Unless we're doing prolonged contract work, I find this suffices for most custom artwork.
